Verba — Privacy Policy

Verba runs on your Mac, so there is nothing for us to collect.

Effective August 2026

Verba has no account, no analytics, and no tracking, and your speech and text never leave your device. There is nothing for us to collect, because your data never reaches us.

  1. What we collect

Nothing. Verba does not have servers that receive your data. Your dictations, transcripts, audio, dictionary, history, and settings are stored only on your Mac (in the ~/.voitext folder) and are never transmitted to us or anyone else.

  2. How your dictation is processed

Speech-to-text (WhisperKit / Parakeet) and text cleanup (Apple Intelligence) run on-device using Apple's and open-source machine-learning models. No audio or text is sent to any server for processing.

  3. Microphone

Verba uses your microphone only while you are actively dictating, to convert your speech to text on-device. Audio recordings are discarded after transcription and are not kept unless you explicitly turn on "keep audio clips" in Settings (off by default), in which case they stay only on your Mac.

  4. Accessibility permission

Verba uses macOS Accessibility to paste your transcribed text into the app you're using and, optionally, to learn a correction when you fix a dictated word. This happens locally; nothing read via Accessibility is transmitted or stored beyond the small correction you choose to keep.

  5. The one network request

By default Verba checks once at launch, and daily, whether a newer version is available by requesting a public version file from GitHub. Like any web request this reaches GitHub with your IP address and a standard app/OS user-agent; it carries no account, no identifier, and none of your content. You can turn this off in Settings → About ("Check for updates").

  6. Third parties

Verba does not use third-party analytics, advertising, or tracking SDKs. It does not sell or share data, because it does not collect any.

  7. Your control

All of your data lives on your Mac. You can view it (Settings and History), erase it (History → Clear all, which also clears the optional training log and audio), or remove everything by deleting the ~/.voitext folder and uninstalling the app.

  8. Children

Verba is a general-purpose productivity tool and is not directed to children under 13.

  9. Changes

If this policy changes, the updated version will be posted here and on our website with a new effective date.
